I’m a sucker for romance. I love it in writing and television. I love it when those two characters you’ve been rooting for finally get together, and I hate it when the writers keep pulling them apart. Here is my list of the most romantic moments in some of my favorite shows. If you are still meaning to watch some of these, consider this your official spoiler warning!
1) Schmitt Proposes to Cece from New Girl
The scene where Schmitt proposes to Cece and they finally, FINALLY get together for good is my absolute favorite from the entire series. It’s enough to make you tear up for sure.
2) Ben Proposes to Leslie from Parks and Recreation
If you haven’t figured it out yet, I love proposals. The scene where Ben proposes to Leslie is funny, sweet, romantic, and adorable all rolled into one. Only Leslie would make her man stop mid-proposal so she could really take it all in.
3) Jim & Pam Finally Get Together from the Office
The first time I watched the Office, Jim and Pam were what made me want to keep going. Their journey to each other’s arms was so long and tumultuous; it made the moment when he finally asked her on a real date that much sweeter.
4) Schmitt Tells Cece She’s Pregnant from New Girl
I love Schmitt and Cece so much that I couldn’t limit it to just one moment for the two of them. I thought it was so original for the writers to have the guy telling the girl she was pregnant instead of the other way around. The fact that Cece thought she wouldn’t be able to have children, and then Schmitt filling the entire room with flowers – swoon.
5) Barney Proposes to Robin from How I Met Your Mother
There are arguably a lot of good romantic moments from this show, but this one is by far my favorite. It’s also unique in that the characters were not in a relationship at the time, but that didn’t stop Barney from professing his love and proposing in the most complicated, well-laid-out proposal plan of all time.
6) Monica & Chandler’s Engagement from Friends
This two-part engagement episode had me on the edge of my seat. I was so afraid they were going to break up! Instead they get engaged in a moment where they both propose to the other person. So unique, and I love the fact that they both got choked up and emotional.
7) Literally Any Moment Between Daenerys Targaryen & Khal Drogo from Game of Thrones
Their marriage might have gotten off to a rocky start, but they find their footing pretty quickly. Their relationship is sweet and supportive (and a bit bloody), and the fact that they refer to each other as “my sun and stars,” and “moon of my life” is completely swoon-worthy.
